Studying for your Chemistry exam

Here are some basic but important points to take note of when studying:

1. Revise little and often. DO NOT leave your revision until the last few days before your exam!

2. Never just sit and look at your notes. Revise actively by using highlighters or by making extra revision notes of your own.

3. Answer as many practice questions and past exam questions as you can. Even if you have completed a particular past paper before it is still helpful to go through it again...and again.

4. Working in groups with your friends can be useful. Try explaining a complicated point to another student; you'll be helping them as well as testing your own undersanding of the topic.

5. If you have problems with a particular topic, try not to leave it until later. Have it explained to you as quickly as possible, or work hard to solve the problem yourself.

6. When revising make sure you do all of the following:

 - switch between topics to keep things fresh

 - take regular breaks

 - complete lots of practice tests

7. During the exam, read each question slowly and carefully before answering. Make sure you fully understand what information you are required to provide BEFORE you start writing your answer. This is probably the easiest way to pick up extra marks in your exam!

BEST OF LUCK!
