About us

Chemistry Success is run by qualified teacher and Oxbridge graduate, Shola Cook.

Shola was born and raised in Notting Hill, Central London. After studying for A-levels at London Oratory school, Shola graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) and then went on to Oxford University to study for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with a specialisation in Chemistry and Science Teaching. She received a teaching award from the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Shola taught and tutored in London for some years, and then went to the United States to obtain a Masters Degree in Analytical Chemistry. As well as conducting scientific research, she taught undergraduate university chemistry courses to pre-medical students. After completing the Masters degree she moved to New York City and spent several years working as a consultant at Goldman Sachs, one of the world's top investment banks.

Upon returning to the United Kingdom, Shola returned to teaching and tutored extensively, working for several of London's tutoring agencies. She helped many students improve their exam results and tutored celebrities such as Joss Stone as well as students from state schools and from independent schools such as Marlborough College, City of London Boys and Sevenoaks School.

In addition to tutoring teenagers and mature students, Shola has worked with younger students to strengthen their common entrance applications, resulting in tutees receiving offers from public schools such as Eton and Harrow.

Shola taught A-level and GCSE chemistry at Albemarle College in London's Mayfair and delivered their one and two-day revision courses. She now continues to tutor extensively, teaches A-level chemistry at Albion College and runs one-day revision programmes with a strong emphasis on examination technique, helping students obtain the grades they need.
